Vegetable natural dye Miao stripe shirt cotton ethnic tapestry gray pink black India fabric tribal home decor boho Hmong Karen textile AF38
This is a hand made fabric by the Karen or Karian ethnic group of Thailand and Burma. It is hand woven on a traditional back-strap loom with cotton colored using all natural vegetable dyes, thus the soft, muted tones. Because of the narrow size of a back-strap loom (narrow to fit the size of the weavers back), the fabric width is correspondingly narrow and this shirt/tunic/fabric is constructed of two separate lengths of fabric, folded over at the shoulder of the garment and hand sewn together both on the sides and in the middle front and back. You may of course wear it as a tunic…or it can be re-purposed into cushions, bags, table runners, throws, etc...
The dimensions are 36 in length x 23 in width per side and without the fringe. Meaning that if you took out the seams on the two sides you would have a piece of fabric 72 inches in length by 23 in width. Perfect condition.
