Exquisite neutral sand gray tribal textile, vintage cotton ethnic blanket, hand woven fabric embroidered story quilt Chin Naga tapestry PM60

Incredible and rare vintage Chin story quilt...I was fortunate to find a small stock of them. Very sharp hand embroidery and symbolism in cotton on a hand loomed cotton base. The embroidery is quite thick and rendered in a difficult and time consuming square block pattern. The base is made up of two parts hand-sewn together.

Being handmade, some slight imperfections in the weaving and color are normal and to be expected. The embroidery is so time consuming that they are done in multiple stages, taken out and worked on and then put away again with this process repeated multiple times, giving ample opportunity for them to encounter dirt from the surrounding environment. Some lighter blankets are more prone to these slight marks, scars, small stains, and sometimes pen around the figures...testimony to the jungle living conditions and a naif art badge. This is why we love handmade!

The dimensions are 65 in x 50 in without the fringe.
