Incredible vintage ethnic textile, deep red Chin tribal tapestry, hilltribe home decor, handwoven boho cotton fabric table runner PM552

A spectacular hand woven (on a narrow back-strap loom worn around the back of the body and extended using the feet) traditional Chin tribal textile skirt bottom. Striking oxblood red thickly woven cotton pattern on a black/gray cotton support. The material has quite a sturdy hand feel to it and has significant weight due to the dense weave.

Give a close-up look at the woven detail. It's amazing. I can certainly make out rows of flower motifs. I'm not sure what the other, more squiggly bands represent but I would hazard water or leaves/branches/organic abundance...

Great for pillows or bags. Equally fetching as a table runner or tapestry.

My personal M.O. with weddings is to not bring a gift, claiming to whomever will listen (mostly myself) that it is perfectly acceptable and that one indeed has a year from the date of the wedding in which to procure and consign a gift. I then willfully forget about it and hope that the wedded couple, in their first year of bliss, do as well. My point is, if you don't want to be a wily ingrate like me, this Chin item makes a thoughtful and unusual present.
