Ethnic tapestry tribal fabric Timor Boti handwoven traditional cotton textile skirt throw runner tablecloth Indonesian hill tribe home decor boho fabric natural vegetable dye black (dark gray) off-white pink CD26
From the Boti tribe in Timor. It is handwoven cotton and colored with organic vegetable dyes which lend it the soft and wonderful color palette, as opposed to chemical dyes which would be much brighter. The weaving is tight and dense and the fabric quite sturdy, yet soft and supple.
It is made of two separate panels that are hand sewn together. Some pinching of the fabric is noted a a result of the two panels being joined less than perfectly. This is somewhat common as it is difficult to have the stretchy and shifting cotton panels line up evenly and to stay that way while joining the panels together by hand. Also, working conditions in these areas are without exception trying. A clean, adequately large working surface with good lighting, not to mention protected from the weather, animals, insects, and children is a rarity.
The two panels can of course be separated and used individually. Or taken apart and reattached.
Total dimensions are 35 in. x 57 in. without the fringe. The fringe itself is 4 to 6 in. long.
This is a handwoven and hand embroidered textile. Please expect normal telltale signs of the human textile artist (aberrations in the weaving and embroidery)! Who wants perfect machine made anyway??
