Ikat tribal tapestry natural dye ethnic indigo blue gray pink/blushLaos boho home decor handwoven cotton skirt sarong Asian fabric KK22
KK22 is very similar to KK21 in color and design. KK22 is slightly pinker. KK21 is slightly redder.
Absolutely riveting hand loomed cotton textile in traditional Laos ikat designs colored with natural vegetable dyes in red, white, and indigo blue. This item's original use was as a wrap around skirt or sarong for traditional-dressing Laos women thus the designs are most often not centered on the textile and the color bands not of equal width. One band forms the top of the skirt while the other is at the bottom.
Ikat is a time intensive method of creating patterns on fabric by tying off the yarn prior to weaving and dyeing. When dipped in the color, the dye colors the yarn except for the part that is tied off, which remains the original color. When the yarns are woven, these areas create the pattern. Multiple color ikats require multiple tyings and dyeings. The technique is originally from Indonesia.
Some slight imperfections in the weaving, color, and design are normal in these handmade textiles.
The dimensions are 85 x 31 in. New condition. Both ends have been over-locked to prevent unraveling.
