Hemp pillow supply Hmong fabric handwoven Karen shirt neutral natural heavy tribal ethnic clothing boho cloth hand stitching unbleached textile CD9XL
This is a hand made fabric by the Karen or Karian ethnic group of Thailand and Burma. It is hand woven on a traditional back-strap loom with unbleached nautral hemp. Because of the narrow size of a back-strap loom (narrow to fit the size of the weavers back), the fabric width is correspondingly narrow and this shirt/tunic/fabric is constructed of two separate lengths of fabric, folded over at the shoulder of the garment and hand sewn together both on the sides and in the middle front and back. You may of course wear it as a tunic…or it can be re-purposed into cushions, bags, table runners, throws, etc...
The dimensions are about 43 in. in length x 23.5 in. in width per side (plus/minus an inch) and without the fringe. Meaning that if you took out the seams on the two sides you would have a piece of fabric 86 inches in length by 23.5 inches in width. Perfect condition.
This fabric is heavy-weight, thick, and quite dense, yet supple and silky.
