Hill tribe textile tribal tapestry Laos Tai Lue handwoven embroidered indigo blue cotton textile runner ethnic skirt sarong natural dye ZX34

The base is a cotton/man-made mix of materials: The weft, or thicker horizontal blue indigo threads are cotton. The warp or thinner darker vertical support threads are polyester or nylon. This is often done to add strength to a textile, and to prevent shrinking and warping. Any part that comes into contact with the body, however, is cotton.

The original use of this textile is as a skirt or sarong. The colors are from natural, vegetable dyes.

The dimensions are 84 in x 32 in. New condition. Both ends have been over-locked to prevent unraveling.

Some slight imperfections in the weaving and color are normal in these handmade textiles.
