Gray rust blush warm off-white, handwoven tribal textile, Hmong textured striped cotton runner fabric, Thai neutral tunic, ethnic decor RN26
This is a hand made fabric by the Karen or Karian ethnic group of Thailand and Burma and is hand woven on a traditional back-strap loom. The fabric is dense and sturdy like canvas and the horizontal weft stitching is raised and provides a substantial textured hand feel.
Because of the narrow size of a back-strap loom (narrow to fit the size of the weavers back), the fabric width is correspondingly narrow and this shirt/tunic is constructed of two separate lengths of fabric, folded over at the shoulder of the garment and hand stitched together both on the sides and in the middle front and back. You may of course wear it as a tunic…or it can be re-purposed into cushions, bags, table runners, throws, etc...
The dimensions are 42 inches long x 30 inches wide. That is, if the side seams were taken out the resulting lengths of fabric would be 84 inches long by 31 inches wide and would make a great table runner. The items are new but some anomalies and aberrations in handwoven, jungle village items are normal and should be expected.
